Meet Smudge, the adorable 18-year-old cat who embarked on a journey to better health and happiness. Smudge, initially a bit on the chonky side, caught the attention of her new parents, Kaia and Matt. Recognizing that she needed special care and a fitness routine, they decided to help her shed those extra pounds.

The first step was a visit to the vet, who suggested gradually introducing exercise into Smudge's daily life. However, getting Smudge excited about outdoor adventures proved a bit challenging. Whenever they tried putting her outside, she would turn right back and head indoors. So, Kaia and Matt came up with a clever strategy – carrying her a bit farther from the house to give her that extra nudge.

At first, Smudge wasn't exactly thrilled about her daily walks. It could be because she wasn't used to it or because it was a bit uncomfortable for her to move. Regardless, each day showed more interest, especially when the whole family joined in. Smudge, being a senior cat, would take short breaks when tired but quickly get back on track.

To keep the motivation going on rainy days, the dedicated parents even came up with a solution – Matt took an umbrella, and they ventured out together. Smudge, despite dealing with obesity as a senior cat, proved to be a fighter, impressing everyone with her progress.

Smudge's journey is a reminder that it's never too late to start a path to better health and happiness
